Faith and Hope Diaries

WHAT IS HOPE IN PRECISE?

The definition of hope can differ depending on the person doing the talking. When people speak about hope in a Biblical context, it means believing good things will happen with faith in God. They direct their hopes outward in prayer.

OUR HOPE

In the world view, hope provides motivation to improve one’s life or achieve intricate aspiration in life. Hope is also the feeling that tomorrow can be better and allows people to endure hardship and keep striving for a desired outcome in confronting challenges in life regardless of belief.

For the Christian, it also means always looking on the bright side and seeing challenges as opportunities.

Merriam-Webster’s definition makes “hope” seem close to “wish”: “to cherish a desire with anticipation: to want something to happen or be true.” Whatever the details, hope, in general, would mean a desire for things to change for the better, and to want that better situation very much.

Why Is Hope So Important In Human Life?

To have hope is to want an outcome that makes your life better in the way you want it. It does not help make a tough present situation more bearable but also can eventually improve their lives because envisioning a better future motivates you to take the steps to make it happen.

Whether we think about it or not, hope is a part of everyone’s life. Every person hopes for something. It’s an inherent part of being a human being. Hope helps us define what we want in our futures and is part of the self-narrative about the lives we all have running inside our minds.

What About People Who Believe There Is No Hope?

Such people may experience emotional and physical signs of dejection, and withdrawal. This may cause self inflicted physical harm at times because they think there’s nothing to live for in life. They can pick up worldly behaviors such as daily consumption of alcohol or drug use believing it will help them overcome their woes.

This may sometimes resort to suicide. While hopelessness can lead to a sense of meaninglessness it is never too late to find alternative source in the Lord through relationship with Christ.  It is never too late to turn to the Lord. Never lose faith in the Lord for answers to this life’s big questions. The following verses will help in tuning down the tempo of hopelessness.

Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”.

Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”.

What Is Hope In Christianity?

Unlike the common use of hope, Christian hope is not a desire for something with uncertain outcomes, but a solid conviction that something good will indeed happen, because God is sovereign and has promised it.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” [Hebrews 11:1].

The Christian cannot have hope without tying it together with faith otherwise one will be limping home bruised. In the spirit, you have hope because you have faith, and you have faith because you have hope. Biblical hope is confident expectation of future good, rooted in faith and God’s promises, rather than a simple wish or doubtful desire. It’s a deep trust that God is present, faithful, and working for the good of those who love Him, providing strength to endure hardships and persevere toward the future hope of eternal life and Christ’s return. This is our confidence.

It is our confidence as Christians not a mere wish but is deeply grounded in the past faithfulness of God that was displayed and revealed “through the incarnation, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

This unwavering confidence in God’s promises provides inner strength to overcome setbacks, resist temptation, and face life’s challenges as a Christian with courage – thus providing us with strength and perseverance always. It is a closer relationship of trust in God that extends into the future, even when circumstances are difficult for us as Christians.

God Does Not Lie And God Does Not Take His Words Back And Neither Is His Promises

As Christians, our hope is a personal and relational asset with the Lord, a relationship of trust in the Lord that extends into the future, even when circumstances are difficult. Here below is what the scripture says about the Hope God has promised believers of Christ.

Hebrews 6:17-19 states that: God gave both His promise and an oath to demonstrate the unchangeable nature of His counsel, providing strong encouragement to believers. Since it’s impossible for God to lie, these two unchangeable things offer a sure and steadfast anchor for the soul, representing a firm hope that enters into God’s inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

So as a Christian I encourage you to trust the Lord with his promises, especially for the hope that inhabits and resides within you. Hope is God’s promise that he cannot take back. Our FAITH is confidence in what we HOPE for in our life.
